In Yerky, Katerynopil Rayon, there is no shortage of a 30-million budget: they manage to develop hromada and even share with the state. There is currently free healthcare – from pills to dental services, free education and nutrition in schools. The AH also formed its own fire brigade.

Vasyl Nazarenko is passing heart treatment at the day care centre. He was worried that he would need to spend all of his pension money on it, but the treatment appeared to be free of charge.

“I get UAH 1600 of pension benefit, and was provided with UAH 1000 for medicines. This is very good,” the patient rejoices.

“The funds are allocated for the purchase of medicines, medical treatment is free of charge, as well as materials – droppers, cotton, syringes. Patients do not buy them at all,” says Iryna Skoromna, chief doctor of the Yerky outpatient clinic. 

The hromada spends UAH 450 thousand a year to provide free medicines and consumables for the population. Another 300 thousand are allocated annually for dental care. Services and procedures are free at the local outpatient clinic and two paramedic and obstetric stations (rural health posts).

The AH also pays for children’s meals at school and kindergarten – up to 400 hryvnyas per month per child.

The school abolished the so-called voluntary contributions. Repairs are carried out at the expense of the hromada. Annually UAH 1 million are allocated for this. The AH purchased interactive whiteboards and computers. Classes in nearly three dozen interest clubs and music school are also free of charge.
