Police captain Serhiy Kukhtin is one of the first 26 AH police officers, having started to serve since January, 2020 in 13 AHs of the Kharkiv region. Before becoming «a sheriff» in his native Pisochynska AH, he worked there for 10 years as a district militia officer, performing a punitive function. Now his role is mainly to prevent offences.

In the future up to 244 such police officers have to appear in all AHs of the Kharkiv region.

– A hromada police officer is a serious step of the National Police reform, having the population’s considerable trust. Its main objective is to provide each hromada with its police officer, working and living on the territory of this hromada, – emphasized the deputy head of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksandr Fatsevych during his visit to Kharkiv on February, 25.
