At the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on the public power organization, local self-government, regional and urban development a special work group will be created to develop propositions concerning the future of the rayon council functioning.

It was discussed during the meeting with rayon council representatives of the Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Chernivtsi and Volyn regions, held today at the parliamentary Committee.

«It is clear that rayon council functions, personnel and budgets will never be the same as most authorities and resources have been transferred to hromadas since the beginning of the year. At the same time we understand rayon council concern and desire to have a clear list of their authorities and income sources, sufficient for their exercising. It must be enshrined in the legislation, particularly, in the new wording of the law on the local self-government. First of all, it is necessary to avoid misunderstandings between rayon councils and hromadas, especially those rayon councils, traditionally trying to administer hromadas. That is why we are waiting for the bill on the local self-government to be developed. On the other hand, there are a lot of currant issues to be urgently solved at the level of the parliament and government. The parliamentary committee is hoped to support the proposition on the creation of the work group which has to efficiently develop propositions concerning stable rayon council functioning», - commented the meeting outcomes Vyacheslav Nehoda, Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
