«To ensure the decentralization and local self-government reform irreversibility, as well as to secure the achieved results, it is necessary to amend the Constitution of Ukraine. They must be aimed at guaranteeing the material and financial basis of the local self-government, the possibility of establishing own executive bodies by local self-government bodies of the rayon and oblast levels. It is also important to reshape local state administrations into prefecture-like bodies, the main task of which will be not to perform public duties but also self-government ones», - claimed Oleksiy Chernyshov at the meeting of the Consultative Council on local self-government. The meeting took place, initiated by the head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov, to involve representatives of all those concerned in the discussion of important issues of the local self-government reform.
