The municipality taking care of the elderly

Last year the Shyrokivska municipality of the Zaporizhia oblast started to develop its social infrastructure. For it the municipality was awarded at the 2020 Best Local Self-Government Practices national contest.

People are proud of the municipality achievements during its existence due to decentralisation. For several years street lighting in 27 municipality settlements has been completely upgraded. Three police stations and a fire brigade have been arranged. Pupils are provided with meals free of charge and the disabled – with the special transfer services and a rehabilitation opportunity in health care establishments.

Currently the Shyrokivska municipality also wants to take care of the elderly, establishing the third age university.

A new STB channel report is dedicated to the Shyrokivska municipality.
