On July, 14, 2021, following the repeat consideration with the President’s propositions, the Verkhovna Rada adopted as a whole draft law on amending some laws of Ukraine on the starosta institute development №4535. 259 people’s deputies voted for it.

According to the draft law, it is not mandatory for a starosta to enter the executive committee of the municipality council any more. At the same time a starosta will have a guaranteed right to participate in and address the council meeting, its executive committee and other council bodies.
