According to the Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Vyacheslav Nehoda, efforts consolidation of the local authorities with the National Police will make it possible to improve safety in municipalities.

«To arrange cooperation in municipalities, police officers may be assisted by municipality starostas. There will be almost six thousand starostas, working on the spot and knowing peculiarities of their own district better. It is necessary to study the possibility of them to become formal assistants of municipality police officers, first of all relying upon regulatory mechanisms. Such cooperation will help improve the population trust to the police and will positively influence crime counteraction», — claimed Vyacheslav Nehoda.
