Amalgamation must go on

On June, 12, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted 24 decrees, defining administrative centres and confirming oblast municipality territories. As a result, 1469 municipalities (including 31 municipalities on the non-government-controlled territory within the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts) have been established. In 1438 of them the first local heads and local council deputies elections were held on October, 25, 2020.

Amalgamation processes seem to have completed. At the same time, for the sake of achieving the result and successful territory development, the amalgamation processes must go on at other levels, first of all, inside municipalities. Dmytro Vasylenko, the head of the E-LEAD with Europe Regional office in the Khmelnytskyi oblast gives us an insight into the experience of the Khmelnytskyi oblast municipalities.
