Equal authorities and opportunities for all municipalities: the Government has approved of the bills from the decentralization package

At its meeting on November, 3 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved of two important bills:

  1. On Amending Certain Legislative Enactments on Decentralisation and Division of Powers of Local Self-Government Bodies and Executive Power Bodies due to the Administrative and Territorial Arrangement Change;
  2. On Amending the Law of Ukraine On Local Self Government in Ukraine in terms of division of powers of local self-government bodies due to the Administrative and Territorial Arrangement Change.

According to Vyacheslav Nehoda, Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, the bills were developed within the Constitution of Ukraine. He emphasized the bills defining equal powers for village, settlement, town councils and their executive bodies, according to the authorities, delegated to local self-government bodies of cities of oblast significance and municipalities.
