Government has allocated more than 243 million UAH to reimburse utility costs to municipalities that accommodate displaced persons free of charge, - Oleksiy Chernyshov

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated almost UAH 243.5 million from the reserve fund of the state budget to compensate for utility expenses to those municipalities that sheltered displaced persons in communal and state-owned buildings. This amount offsets the expenses for March of the current year. The relevant order was adopted by the Government during a regular meeting on June 17.

This was announced by Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov.

“The decision is a consistent policy of the Government to support hromadas and every citizen in such a difficult time. Institutions that have provided shelter to temporarily displaced persons will receive reimbursement for utilities consumed in March. Currently, there are more than 6.6 thousand such institutions, and since February 24, they have accommodated almost 1.5 million people. And this is very important – taking care of our Ukrainians. Relevant compensations will continue to be provided,” the Minister said.

The draft act was developed on the basis of information summarized by MinRegion and received from oblast military administrations, central executive bodies on funds paid by institutions on their balance sheets, and in which temporarily displaced persons are accommodated free of charge.

Earlier Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Chernyshov reported that according to the “Shelter” program, in April, 107,2 million UAH were allocated as compensation to the owners of housing provided as free accommodation to refugees.
