The city of Noblesville (Indiana, USA) offered a twinning agreement to Zhytomyr.

This was announced by Serhii Sukhomlyn, Mayor of Zhytomyr.

“We receive tremendous support — financial, humanitarian and military — from the people of the United States. Now the city proposed twinning. They asked what we needed. I said that, above all, we needed help with high-quality prosthetics for our soldiers. We got responses from the mayor and a local hospital, which is ready to perform prosthetic surgeries free of charge. Prosthetics themselves cost tens of thousands of dollars. And today the community of Noblesville has started a crowdfunding campaign for their purchase,” wrote Serhii Sukhomlyn.

Furthermore, according to him, a large local brewery in Noblesville, inspired by the feat of the Heroes who defended Mariupol to the last, produced a new type of beer named Azovstal. All proceeds from the sale are to be used for the purchase of prosthetics.

Note that in May 2022, the Zhytomyr City Council approved signing partnership agreements with the Polish city of Gdynia and the Czech city of Pardubice. Also in May, Serhii Sukhomlyn, Mayor of Zhytomyr, signed cooperation protocols with the Polish city of Plock and the Spanish city of Malaga. And in July 2022, Zhytomyr signed a Partnership Agreement with the municipality of Villa Nova de Famalican, Portugal.

In March 2022, the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine initiated the International Marathon of Local Governments aimed at drawing the attention of municipalities around the world to the tragedy of Ukrainian municipalities and boosting the process of establishing sisterly relations.
