Economy, education, culture are three areas in which Irpin and the Italian city of Monza will cooperate. Such an agreement was reached during a meeting between representatives of the Irpin City Council and Monza Mayor Paolo Pilotto.

This was announced by Oleksandr Markushyn, mayor of Irpin.

"Irpin begins cooperation with the Italian city of Monza. This was agreed upon during a meeting with the mayor of Monza, Paolo Pilotto. The city of Monza is located 12 km from Milan and is a satellite city of the capital, as Irpin is for Kyiv. Like Irpin, Monza is a city of sports. Last year, the city's football club entered Serie A of the Italian championship, and the Monza race track is known worldwide as the legendary Formula 1 speed way since 1950," Oleksandr Markushyn wrote on social network.

"Decentralization" reminds that Ukrainian municipalities can use methodical recommendations to establish communication with municipalities of other countries and conclude twinning agreements “International municipal partnership”. Such recommendations contain action algorithms and practical advice on establishing a partnership, successful examples of already active partnerships, advice on customs and accounting features of various types of assistance that partners can provide to each other, information on how to choose partners, how to organize the work of relevant specialists or departments, as well as plenty of other useful information, incl. on financing, accounting and reporting.

Based on these recommendations, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine elaborated the "Partnership for recovery and development" section of the national portal "Decentralization", with the support of the Swiss-Ukrainian project "Decentralization for the Development of Democratic Education" DECIDE and U-LEAD with Europe Programme.

These recommendations are based on the methodology of the Council of Europe City to City Cooperation, they were prepared by the Council of Europe within the framework of the Programme "Decentralization and reform of public administration in Ukraine" at the request of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
