Ukraine and Switzerland are strengthening their cooperation in the areas of reconstruction and development. Following meetings between Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and the President of the Swiss Confederation, Karin Keller-Sutter, as well as with the leadership of Swiss agencies and Special Representative for Reconstruction Jacques Gerber, new agreements have been reached that will create more opportunities for Ukrainian communities.

Switzerland has already proven to be one of Ukraine’s most reliable partners. The long-term support that Ukrainians receive includes assistance in the areas of humanitarian demining, medicine, energy and sustainable community development.

Of particular importance for local self-government are 12 infrastructure, social and humanitarian projects. These projects will be implemented in Ukraine with funding from the Swiss government and businesses totalling over CHF 93 million.

Already in autumn 2025, communities will be able to see the tangible results of this cooperation:

Energy and infrastructure

• CHF 3.7 million – modernisation of high-voltage networks in seven frontline regions and training of Ukrenerho personnel (Hitachi Energy).
• CHF 1.7 million – construction of 11 solar power plants with energy storage facilities for the pumping stations of Mykolaivvodokanal (Elektrobedarf Troller).
• CHF 14.4 million – establishment of fastening production in Kremenchuk for the transition to the European 1435 mm gauge (Schwihag). This will create about 20 new jobs.
• CHF 12.9 million – production of contact wires for railway electrification and training of Ukrzaliznytsia personnel (Arthur Flury).

Housing for IDPs

• CHF 15 million – construction of modular houses in Vinnytsia, launch of local production (Divario). Over 50 new jobs.
• CHF 8.9 million – modular houses in the Sumy region, 95 per cent of components manufactured in Ukraine (DM Bau).
• CHF 9.9 million – replacement of over 32,000 windows in destroyed buildings in Kharkiv and eastern regions (Glas Trösch).

Education

• CHF 4.8 million – energy-efficient doors and windows in vocational schools, implementation of practical training programmes (Rehau).
• CHF 3.7 million – modern sanitary systems in educational institutions, training of fitter-students with consideration for the needs of people with disabilities (Geberit).

Healthcare

• CHF 8.8 million – a four-storey diagnostic laboratory in Lviv and staff training (Roche Diagnostics).
• CHF 3 million – Ukraine’s first brachytherapy centre in Ivano-Frankivsk for the treatment of cancer patients, with training for Ukrainian doctors (Innovatec Med).

Humanitarian demining

• CHF 6.4 million – repair shop, new equipment and drones for the State Emergency Service (Fondation Suisse de Déminage).

These projects will restore damaged infrastructure and create new economic opportunities for communities, including new jobs and innovative technologies.

Switzerland has also confirmed its long-term commitment within the Ukraine Country Programme, providing CHF 5 billion until 2036. This means support will be systematic and focused on the sustainable development of Ukrainian regions.
