The waste sorting line was launched in the test mode at the landfill of the town of Dunayivtsi (the Khmelnytskyi Oblast).

The trial launch of the facility took place after a lot of controversial issues, project errors and delay of deadlines for putting it into operation, reports dunrada.gov.ua .

It is assumed that the waste sorting line, initiated by the Dunayevetska amalgamated hromada, will start operating at full capacity in 2018.

The Dunayevetska AH decided to construct a waste sorting facility in 2016. “The issue of garbage collection has always worried our peasants,” says Velina Zayats, head of the Dunayivtsi Town Council. “This is our ecology, our health and life.”

Velina Zayats is sure that over time the line will expand and improve.

The waste sorting line is certainly a good thing, but the quality of waste separation depends on the consciousness of participants of the process at all stages, notes the head of the Dunayivtsi Town Council. “In order for the system of separate garbage collection to bring the expected results, an active participation of each person is needed,” she says. “Thus, while the waste sorting line is being prepared for work, let's change the consciousness and learn to sort waste.”
