The decentralisation reform launched in 2014 allows to strengthen hromadas and regions at the oblast level, and there will be only benefits of use of these opportunities, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in Uzhgorod, commenting on the issue of formation of amalgamated hromadas in the Zakarpattia Oblast.
"The process started in 2014, and we have good results. There are hromadas in the Zakarpattia Oblast, there are those willing to amalgamate, but there is a need for understanding. I listen to the reasonings of all sides. We will study all the pros and cons," said Volodymyr Groysman. “I do not intend to replace the decisions of local self-government bodies. Nevertheless, using the opportunities of amalgamation, the Zakarpattia Oblast will become stronger."
The Head of Government reminded that hromadas’ amalgamation, as well as transfer of powers and resources to them, take place to make hromadas capable in provision of high-quality services, building roads, and offering conditions for education – "without office shadows, transparently and quickly."
