Green tourism in Mykolayivska AH supported by U-LEAD with Europe

The Mykolayivska amalgamated hromada in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast will receive a grant for the development of ecotransport within the framework of the competition, supported by the U-LEAD with Europe Programme.

The hromada will spend UAH 60 thousand to hold the European Mobility Week 2018. The event will become an additional incentive for the development of green tourism, which makes the basis for development of the newly established AH.

“Tourism development is the aim we have set since the the very AH formation. We are currently working on creation of a holistic programme of cycling development: the first large-scale cycling tour took place in June, we plan various tourist routes, seek support from NGOs, and envisage in our own hromada budget,” says Mykola Odoyevtsev, head of the AH.

More than 100 local cyclists and a team from the Dnipropetrovsk Local Government Development Centre took part in the first bicycle tour in June this year.

“We support the choice of the Mykolayivska hromada to develop green tourism, as the AH has a diverse landscape: there are forests, hills, and rivers. During the bicycle tour we made sure that interesting tourist routes can be arranged here. We advise creating different routes – extreme, family, entertaining and quest ones,” says Olena Tertyshna, director of the Dnipropetrovsk LGDC.

The European Mobility Week is a common European initiative to promote eco-friendly transport. The competition is part of the project “Green Light for Cycling in Hromadas”, organised by the NGO Kyiv Cyclists’ Association with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme.
