40% of the territory of the Bilokorovytska AH in the Zhytomyr Oblast are covered with forests, this is one of the highest values in the region. However, up to now this advantage was only a curious fact. On 15 August 2018, the Law of Ukraine No. 2497-VIII of 10.07.2018 “On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine and Some of the Laws of Ukraine on Stimulating the Creation and Operation of Family Farms” entered into force which entitles hromadas to set the tax rate for the forest land.

“This Law amends Art. 273 according to which the tax on forest land is levied as a part of the rent fee set by the tax regulations. Such amendments can generate millions in revenues for hromadas”, says Оleksandr Hnitetsky, adviser for spational planning at the Zhytomyr Local Government Development Centre which was established by the U-LEAD with Europe Programme and MinRegion.
