CANactions School for Urban Studies with support from U-LEAD with Europe Programme launches an  open call for educational program “Integrated Spatial Planning for Amalgamated Hromadas”.

The program is aimed to develop a model of enhancing capacities of staff of amalgamated hromadas and other local stakeholders in preparation of local spatial development concepts. Representatives of amalgamated hromadas will create spatial development concepts for the territories of their hromadas under the supervision and with support of the international team of mentors. Spatial development concept allows for planning of long-term integrated development of the entire hromada’s territory, considering national and regional contexts, with an emphasis on sustainable use of natural resources and land.

Addressing the current spatial, economic, environmental and social challenges facing amalgamated hromada, spatial development concept foresees creation of development scenarios for social and transportation infrastructure, environmental audit and landscape plan of hromada’s territory, as well as prototyping of pilot actions that can be used for attracting investments.

The program includes:

• Development of concept for hromada’s sustainable development in the regional and national contexts;
• Capacity building measures for staff of amalgamated hromadas in the field of spatial development;
• Planning of strategy-driven efficient use of land and natural resources;
• Development of strategic concepts for transport and social infrastructure;
• Prototyping pilot projects for attracting investments;
• Exchange of experience and best practices with representatives of other Ukrainian hromadas.

The educational process within the program will be organized at the LGDC centers in Ukrainian regions. Participants are also expected to attend introductory seminar and final conference in Kyiv, as well as international field trip to Scandinavian.
