In the village of Mykhaylivka (Mykhaylivska AH of the Vilniansk Rayon in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast) eight amalgamated hromadas of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, which became the winners of the competition conducted by the “Supporting Ukraine in Emergency Management” project, implemented by Deutsche Zusammenarbeit für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, received fire safety equipment on 3 October.

“We are very grateful to the Project for believing in us and providing such assistance, we really need it,” said Alla Korol, head of the Mykhaylivska AH.

“Only during this year 60 fire cases were eliminated in the AH”, commented Mykola Holovan, Deputy Head of the Chief Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

“Decentralisation affects all spheres of hromada life, including citizens' safety,” said Christian Poschmann, GIZ “Supporting Ukraine in Emergency Management” Project Manager. "There must be fire brigades in every hromada, every city. This is very important, because it is about people's safety. We understand that not everyone can immediately purchase the necessary equipment, so we decided to help. And we were pleasantly surprised, when we received 17 applications from hromadas of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. It was difficult to select winners. The first eight hromadas will receive the necessary equipment and overalls. But we do not stop this cooperation. The fire truck, that we will hand over to you today, is not only the necessary equipment, it is a symbol for supporting you and helping you. And follow that slogan too."
