The Law No. 2498-VII “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Issue of Collective Land Ownership, Improvement of Agricultural Land Use Rules, Prevention of Raidership and Stimulation of Irrigation in Ukraine” with changes to 10 normative legal acts came into force on 1 January 2019.

Oleksandr Hnitetskyi, spatial planning and resource management adviser of the Zhytomyr Local Government Development Centre, established by the U-LEAD with Europe Programme and MinRegion, prepared a brief overview of 8 key aspects.

“This law is a logical continuation of land decentralisation and provides new opportunities for hromadas to effectively manage land resources and fill their own budgets.”

Key changes that will allow hromadas to use land resources more efficiently are included in the Land Code, in the Laws of Ukraine “On Land Management”, “On Land Assessment”, “On State Land Cadastre”, etc.
