Vinnytsia has won the International Child Friendly Cities Inspire Awards among the most child-friendly cities in the world, reports the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), according to Ukrayinska Pravda.

Vinnytsia gained the victory due to the school participatory budget project, which became the world's best example of involving children in urban governance.

The city held a competition for children's initiatives on change in schools, selected 11 of the most interesting ideas and funded them from the local budget for a total of UAH 1 million.
