The second round of trainings for the Coordinators of 24 local self-government development centres of all oblasts of Ukraine was held in Kyiv on 3-8 October, 2016, supported by the U-LEAD Programme (Ukraine – Local Empowerment, Accountability and Development Programme).

After the first round of trainings was successfully held in July 2016, the second one was dedicated to the legal aspects of registration and functioning of the offices, operational planning, HR management, as well as communication strategies and work with the media.

Representatives from the EU Delegation to Ukraine, MinRegion, MinEducation and the U-LEAD Programme shared their knowledge on different aspects of the decentralisation process.  Experts in the field of law and media provided trainings and shared their expertise. The coordinators improved their skills on recruitment, procurement and communication and exchanged about recent developments. Another training session is foreseen to take place before the end of the year.

The coordinators were chosen in an open and transparent selection procedure between MinRegion, EUD and U-LEAD, and are currently being trained to perform their future tasks. At the national level, the Central Reform Office (CRO) supported by U-LEAD and other donor programmes will be responsible for the liaison with local self-government development centres.
